The Student Leadership Challenge
In today’s world there are countless opportunities to make a difference. More than ever there is a need for people of all ages, from all backgrounds, with all types of life experience to seize those opportunities that lead to greatness. More than ever there is a need for leaders to inspire us to dream, to participate, and to persevere.
The Student Leadership Challenge offers everyone the chance to do just that—to take the initiative and make a difference. The Student Leadership Challenge is about how student leaders mobilize others to want to get extraordinary things done. It’s about the practices leaders use to transform values into actions, visions into realities, obstacles into innovations, individuality into collaboration, and risks into rewards. It’s about a climate in which people turn challenging opportunities into remarkable successes. It was developed by James M. Kouzes and Barry Z. Posner about 30 years ago using thorough research methods and thousands of interviews. Through ongoing research that continues even today, the theory and model of leadership still proves to be one of the best ways to help students understand and improve their own leadership behaviors.
The Student LPI is a comprehensive leadership development tool created by James M. Kouzes and Barry Z. Posner as part of The Student Leadership Challenge suite of programs, products, and services proven to cultivate and liberate the leadership potential in everyone. Created specifically to help young people measure their leadership behaviors and take action to improve their effectiveness as a student leaders, this premier set of assessments includes: the Student LPI Self Assessment (completed by the Student Leader) and the Student LPI Observer (completed by others chosen by either the Student Leader or the Administrator).
