Coordinator for Leader Development Experiences
Carson serves as the Coordinator of Leader Development Experiences for the Dux Leadership Center. She is a Double Duke. During her undergraduate experience, she was a trip leader for Alternative Break experience, a brother in Alpha Phi Omega, and served as an Orientation Peer Advisor and FrOG. She loved her time at JMU so much she decided to pursue her graduate degree in Counseling Psychology, College Student Personnel Administration (Student Affairs).
During her graduate practicum experience, she spent time in the DLC. Upon graduation she held the Leadership Program Specialist position until she moved to a full-time position in the Office of Residence Life. However, when she saw the coordinator position open she knew it was meant to be.
“So much of leadership development is personal.”
Carson believes it is important to be the best version of yourself and that leadership helps you become who you want to be. She believes everyone can be a leader and lead from where they are. Whether that be in the residence hall with your roommate, standing up for a friend, or in a formal position.
Her husband is a JMU Double Duke and you’ll often see them playing intramurals at UREC. When she has spare time between working and taking care of her two kids (Landyn and Bannon), she is a fitness coach. She also has her name on two bricks around campus!
