Are you a student on a fixed income in search of free food? If you’re looking to be an at-home cook on a tight budget, the office of Off-Campus Life (OCL) is throwing a Pop-Up Pantry where students can pick up free groceries on January 27th from noon to 6 PM in Festival Conference Room 4.
The event will be the first of weekly Pop-Up Pantries this semester. These Pop-Ups will occur every Monday from 12-6 PM. This program has been a collaborative effort overseen by the newly formed Basic Needs Advisory Board through the Office of Student Affairs and is an excellent resource for students, boasting free food. OCL has partnered with the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank to ensure a constant supply of food for students. At present, there will be several shelf-stable foods, such as soups, canned fruits and vegetables, or cereals. There will also be various free hygiene products. As the semester progresses, be on the lookout for fresh produce, dairy, and breads.
Make sure to take advantage of this program! For more information on OCL, check out their website at https://www.jmu.edu/ocl/.
