Are you looking to improve your leadership skills and learn how to impact your community for the better? If so, then the Leadership and Action program is perfect for you!
The Student Leadership Center’s new Leadership and Action Program is a leadership experience unlike anything else on campus. Attendees will participate in a 12-week program dedicated to honing their leadership skills within an individualized context. Students will choose an area of their life they feel would benefit from leadership and focus on that for the duration of the 12 weeks. It could be a student organization, job, service group, or something more personal, as long as it is important to you.
What makes the Leadership and Action program so unique is the fact that it is oriented around students and their goals. After students choose their target for the course, they will be assigned a leadership coach who will help them set objectives and guide them through their journey to be a better leader. Attendees will meet every other week with their leadership coaches to discuss their progress, whether their goals are working or not, and devise plans to rework or refocus as the program continues.
Most of the work, however, is done outside of the lectures and bi-weekly meetings. The attendees will be testing their newfound skills and goals out in their daily lives, learning new techniques and strategies every step of the way. While the theory and the coaching are helpful, the real learning comes from applying these skills out in the real world.
SLC’s Leadership and Action program is open to all students looking to better themselves and improve as leaders in their communities. Applications for the program will open on December 1st, and the program will begin in January of 2021.
