If you’re looking to learn more about your own identity or have a desire to positively impact the world around you, look no further than Make Your Mark on Madison, or MYMOM. MYMOM is a campus organization that helps students grow as individuals while making an impact on the campus and the world at large. Every Monday until November 16th, the organization is hosting weekly speakers to tackle a wide range of topics.
So far through this series, MYMOM has taken participants through topics like relationship–building, personal values, diversity, inclusion, and organizational values. Mollie Zens, a speaker who is new to MYMOM, took everyone through the ins and outs of communication, what it is, and how it can go wrong. Mollie brought a keen enthusiasm to show everyone how they can show up to a space and take note on the ways their communication can be perceived.
Later this month, you can hear from the Student Leadership Center’s own Michael McCleve as he guides participants through the art of successfully having difficult conversations. The series will conclude with a presentation on passion and service from Dr. Mark Warner, a current Virginia US Senator!
To learn to look at yourself and the world around you in a new way, make sure to sign into these events! You do not have to be a member of MYMOM to attend! The links to all these events can be found on the MYMOM Facebook Page. If you find these events helpful and want to learn more, be on the lookout for the Spring MYMOM participant applications!
