Students are away from JMU’s campus for the rest of the semester, but that doesn’t mean that we must be disconnected from our annual traditions. One important aspect of JMU’s culture is honoring those who contribute to the community through awards and recognitions. Groups like Student Activities and Involvement, Center for Multicultural Student Services, and Fraternity and Sorority Life are all committed to still recognizing the students who were selected for this year’s Dolley Leadership Awards ceremony. Students are nominated and then selected for these awards for everything from services to the community to leadership within their specific organization. There are even awards to recognize specific events and organizations on campus, recognizing not just individuals, but group efforts on campus.
During this time, it is so important for us to continue to stay connected and remember all the important members our community and everything that was accomplished this year, even when we can only interact remotely. The award announcements are a great way to remember those who have and still are impacting JMU’s campus no matter where we all might be.
Each organization will be announcing their winners on their Instagram accounts on April 15. Students can follow the accounts @jmustudentactivities, @jmucmss, and @jmufsl to stay up to date on the awards and timing of the announcements.
