UPB Mission Statement
By encouraging boundless expression, the University Program Board strives to enhance the overall JMU experience by providing a variety of creative, educational and entertaining programs that appeal to diverse audiences. We actively seek and encourage input while dedicating and challenging ourselves to incorporate the needs and desires of the JMU community.
The University Program Board (UPB) is a student-run, student-funded organization receiving more funding from the Student Government Association than any other student group. UPB strives to offer a variety of educational and entertaining programs to complement your academic experience while bringing programs to educate and enlighten the JMU student body. Events offered include concerts, movies, speakers, novelty acts, and many more which are open to ALL students. We would love to see you take advantage of these great opportunities and attend the events planned for you!
Have a great idea for an event, speaker, or other program? Share it with us! Want to be more than an attendee? You can be a participant in the event planning process! UPB is staffed by students who coordinate booking, promoting, and producing programs for students. By joining UPB, students have the opportunity to determine performers, artists, and acts who will educate and entertain JMU students. Members receive the inside scoop on campus events and work as event coordinators who have a BLAST doing their job.
You’ll get the chance to work on exciting committees such as Film, Amplify, Spirit and Traditions, and Special Events. You will live, learn, and create memorable experiences for the JMU community while meeting a highly motivated, diverse group of individuals.
The University Program Board Executive Council consists of 14 student directors, a graduate assistant, and a faculty/staff coordinator. Their responsibilities range from running films at the campus theater to promoting large scale student events.
