School of Media Arts and Design with a concentration in Converged Media/Computer Science double major
Growing up in Shanghai, China, Francis understood looking out for his community and the people he loved. He fostered many passions, including drawing, art, and a love of the hard sciences. Intent on fostering Francis’s passions into the best education possible, his mom brought their family to the US, now in Arlington, VA. Currently, she works teaching Chinese to state employees and he’s well on his way to turning his love of learning and creativity into a career.
“Even on the worst days, everyone’s just so positive,” Francis remarks, as his reasoning behind his choice of college. Though nothing quite matches the collective family values of his homeland, Francis chose JMU because of its sunny positivity and strong sense of community amongst the Dukes.
Thanks to his double major, he’s taken his passions and really turned them into a strong professional skillset. TAD has brought that even a step further, letting him interact with Madison Union clients to provide innovative solutions for their web development needs.
After graduation, Francis hopes to own his own business. His strong entrepreneurial grit and vision make him a natural decision maker and spearhead.
Fun fact: while he may like art and design in general, Francis has a particular fondness for bathroom cleanliness and design.
“I’m a bit of a neat freak. When you go in for a nice meal, bad bathroom design can make it terrible. There should be higher standards!”
