Come to Festival 1108 from 2-3pm on Thursday, November 8th for some coffee, cookies, and enriching conversation! This Coffee and Conversation session will be at the Lisanby Museum’s exhibit “Breaking Chains: Voices from Slavery to Civil Rights”. The exhibit features a variety of artifacts and artwork that showcase social progress and change from the roots of the slave trade through the civil rights movement of the 60’s.
JMU’s Dr. Terry Beitzel, a justice studies professor and director of the Mahatma Gandhi Center, will be facilitating this event.
This event is a great way to learn about important social change and progress in a way that’s different than simply going to lecture or reading a textbook. The event can also be used as a passport event if you’re looking for something enriching and exciting.
Come down to festival this Thursday for free food and a great, hands on, academic experience!
