Sometimes living off-campus means living in and around Harrisonburg community members. As a student, you may have a different lifestyle and different living preferences than your neighbors, but there are still ways to get along and have good relationships with neighbors.
1.Notify neighbors if you are planning to have a party.
–Most members of the Harrisonburg community can understand the desire as a college student to enjoy the weekends and host parties for friends. They might, however, like a heads-up about when parties are going to occur and how long they’ll last. This helps residents to plan what they will be doing on the weekends, or to know at what times they might expect it to be louder than usual next door. It’s common courtesy to be aware of your community and needs of neighbors, and one of the ways to do this is by notifying them of when you’ll be hosting a party, how long it will last, and when clean-up can be expected. You can download a sheet below to help you communicate this information with neighbors.
