The Human Element
Human interactions are only fleeting moments. If no one is there to capture them, they may be lost forever. Photographer Callan Hand seeks to do just that.
Callan is a junior Computer Science major from Reading, Massachusetts. Due to the systematic nature of her academic career, Callan uses photography as her primary creative outlet. She feels a great sense of gratitude towards having this opportunity to create. “I love the feeling of expressing myself and creating something for people to see,” she expressed. This is the first time Callan’s talents have been displayed in a gallery.
In this installment, Callan has captured genuine human experiences. When talking about her work, Callan said, “We are all connected in a certain way. We experience life from our own perspective…I hope [the audience] feels a sense of connection to the people in these photos, whatever that connection is.”
By capturing the simple moments, Callan hopes to demonstrate how similar we truly are. In her work, Callan attempts to truly encapsulate a moment in time. In order to maintain the realness of these interactions and display the natural beauty of daily life, she limits the amount of editing done on her photography.
