Alpha Delta Pi
On May 15, 1851 six women who attended Wesleyan Female College in Macon, Georgia founded the first secret society for college women. The Adelphean Society was formed for “the mental, moral, social, and domestic improvement of its members.” Alpha Delta Pi, as it later was named, is an international sorority established on the principles of scholarship, leadership, sisterhood, and service. There are more than 215,000 women who have come home to Alpha Delta Pi in more than 144 active chapters and over 150 alumnae associations. Our motto is “We Live For Each Other” and we are known as the First. Finest. Forever.™ Our colors of Azure Blue and White represent truth, sincerity and friendship.
Theta Omicron chapter is unique in that it is both the oldest sorority, and the newest chapter on campus! Our chapter was installed at James Madison University on December 2, 2012 with over 180 new members. Since joining the JMU Panhellenic community, we’ve enjoyed supporting other chapters’ philanthropies and events. Our chapter has upheld Alpha Delta Pi’s principles by assisting with studies, being involved in other organizations, hosting socials, and raising money for our philanthropy, The Ronald McDonald House.
Since 1979, Alpha Delta Pi has served Ronald McDonald House Charities and has contributed over $5million to the cause. Our chapter works with the Charlottesville Ronald McDonald House Charities. We love to volunteer, collect pop tabs to raise money, and cook dinners for the families staying in Charlottesville; we’re lucky to be close by so that we can interact with families personally!
