FSLabout us
Our History
In the spring of 1939, Fraternity/Sorority Life began at what was then Madison College. Today, more than 1,500 students are strong and vital members of the fraternity/sorority community at James Madison University.
Although, we are a relatively young institution our campus has a strong Greek system rich with tradition and strong fraternities and sororities. Today, we are proud to have a thriving fraternity/sorority system on campus with more than 20 chapters on campus ranging from approximately 30 to 120 members. We are proud of our organizations and strive to ensure that every student’s experience will be one of the most memorable times of their college experiences.
Guided by our dedicated staff and the Four Pillars of Excellence, Fraternity & Sorority Life offers students a unique opportunity to have a balanced college life with a focus on academic excellence, brotherhood/sisterhood, community service, and responsible social interaction. Fraternity/Sorority Life allows students to make lasting friendships with individuals that share similar goals, ideals, and common purposes.
Our Vision
To be recognized as a premier community for developing better citizens.
Our Mission Statement
In partnership with Inter/National fraternity and sorority organizations, we are committed to providing programs, services, and resources that support and empower students, advisors, and alumni to foster the advancement of a nationally recognized community founded upon the values articulated by JMU and their respective fraternity and sorority organizations.
