Lara Through a Sister’s Eyes
Lara is one of the sweetest, most genuine people I have ever met. She always has a smile on her face and has gone above and beyond in her duties as Sigma Kappa’s Philanthropy chair. We have had many successful proceeds nights and opportunities to get involved and raise money for Alzheimer’s this semester and we owe it all to her. Her passion for Sigma Kappa is infectious and I’m so proud to say that she is my sister!
How does this brother/sister live out their values daily?
Lara always has a positive attitude and a welcoming smile. She is very helpful and is willing to answer any questions especially for the younger pledge class. You can really tell she loves Sigma Kappa. Lara is the most kind-hearted person I know. She is constantly thinking of others and going out of her way to lend a hand to anyone in need. She is extremely hardworking and always puts forth 100 percent of her energy and to everything she does.
What has this brother/sister done to go above and beyond within your chapter?
Lara did an outstanding job planning our philanthropy walk for Alzheimer’s research. She did it efficiently and was very organized. The walk went perfectly and you could easily see all the effort and time she had put into it. Lara makes sure that each member of the chapter participates in the events but makes them fun and enjoyable. We surpassed our goal of $7000 for the annual Memory Walk to end Alzheimer’s because of the effort she put into setting up and raising awareness about the event. She also sets up many other proceeds nights and events that our entire chapter really loves to do.
Overall, what makes this brother/sister an exceptional member of our Greek community?
Lara is an exceptional member of our Greek community because not only is she a leader in Sigma Kappa but she is also a leader in many other aspects. She gets involved in as many Greek and community activities as possible with all other fraternities and sororities to make JMU Greek life the best it can be. She is a great role model and the perfect example of a hardworking student who also shows how sororities can help a community.
