New Fraternity & Sorority Life Site Puts Community First

On February 7th, JMU Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL) launched a new website. The site exhibits a renewed focus on FSL news, events, and organizations. It is more user-friendly, offering a three column layout and image slider mimicking the Off Campus Life and University Program Board websites. In addition, and more importantly to student users, it is mobile friendly.

The calendar under the ‘Member’s Area’ tab invites Greek organizations to add their own items by using the Submit Event link at the bottom of the page.  This allows Greek organizations to schedule their events around others. The Office of Technology and Design web developer Andrew Carnes notes, “Now that it’s [the website] in line with our visual identity, it will be easier to use.” Carnes says that visual identity, mobile usability, and organization make the site more versatile.

Under the ‘Our Community’ tab of the website, a list of all Greek organizations and links to information about the groups proves to be extremely useful to those trying to get in touch with leadership and learn about the organizations in depth. You can explore Fraternity and Sorority Life at JMU on their new website at http://info.jmu.edu/fsl/.
