FLL is a global program created to get kids excited about science and technology. It’s for kids ages 9-14, and uses theme-based challenges to engage them in research, problem solving, and engineering. Many of these kids have already been traveling around all year to other FLL tournaments in order to prepare for this STATE Tournament that we will be hosted at JMU you can check out http://www.usfirst.org/roboticsprograms/fll/default.aspx?id=970 for more information on this organization.
This year the FINAL STATE TOURNAMENT for the “First Lego League” will be hosted by JMU on Saturday, December 8 & Sunday, December 9, 2012
Saturday’s events will be held at Memorial Hall & ISAT. Sunday’s events will be held at Harrisonburg High School. We are in need of 300 volunteers for the weekend!
All volunteers will be given a FREE t-shirt
This event will be very similar to a sporting event. We will need volunteers to serve as referees to monitor and score the robot games and judges to review team presentations. Other volunteers will serve as guides, set up, clean up, and table setters. It’s an intense competition where kids get really into their projects. Their families come and cheer too. It’s a very exciting tournament!
As stated before, each day the event begins at 8:00 AM & ends at 4:30 PM.
We have created 2 time slots for each day hoping people will be able to fill one or more spots:
Saturday, Dec. 8 & Sunday, Dec. 9:
Time Slot 1: 8:00 AM – 12:30 PM
--The FREE lunch is from 12:30-1:30--
Time Slot 2: 1:30 PM – 5:30 PM
We are in need of many volunteers and would be GREATLY appreciative of any help!
