Alternative Weekend Break

Ever feel like your weekends just repeat? Break the monotony!

What are Alternative Weekend Break Trips?

The JMU Alternative Break Program immerses students in a purposeful service experience designed to connect students and community members while enhancing personal growth, mutual awareness and life-long learning. Alternative Weekend Breaks generally begin on Friday late afternoon/early evening and last until Sunday afternoon. A team of approximately 10 students emerge themselves in local or nearby communities within 200 miles to do service projects. Trips are co-sponsored by Community Service-Learning (CS-L) and another JMU department.

There are currently no Weekend Break Trips listed, but check back later this year as more are being developed all the time.

Cost

All Weekend Break Trips cost $25 per participant, which covers transportation, food and housing.

How Do I Sign Up?

Participants can sign up for the available Weekend Break trips at the Community Service-Learning Office in Wilson 204.
