Thinking of moving off campus or changing housing complexes? Before signing a lease, you’ll want to know what to look for. Moving can be a daunting process, but Off–Campus Life has resources that can help students better understand the basics.
At OCL’s Leasing 101 event on Wednesday February 26 from 3-4pm in Festival Allegheny room, you can learn about everything you need in your new lease. You’ll also learn about important practices for moving in and out, and how to properly fill out documentation ensuring you will not be charged for any broken or damaged property that was existent upon move-in. There will also be information given about the Virginia Landlord Tenant Act so that you’ll know more about the laws dictating the responsibilities of both parties.
Check out https://info.jmu.edu/ocl/ for links to all the OCL resources for students, including guidebooks and other important resources.
This information can prepare you for a better transition to off–campus living. Hope to see you there!
